The third book in the Bitsy series introduces important social issues. Once again, Virginia Dare includes these in Bitsy and Simon’s continued saga. Bitsy is a part of a survivor support group. She becomes aware of a woman who refuses to leave her abuser. The woman has no one to take care of her dog. A few weeks later, Simon comes home with Milo. Milo is a tiny yorkie. His person had to go to the shelter on an emergency basis. Her situation had become life-threatening, so Simon offered to keep the dog for her. Milo was followed by Daisy. Daisy is a huge Old English Sheepdog. When asked to foster a cat, Annie volunteered to keep her. This kindness resulted in eviction notices for violating the no pet clause in the lease.
Moving to a small town in upstate NY, they continue to keep pets and Simon continues to offer pro bono services to women in the Domestic Violence shelter. When one of his clients is gunned down in front of him, Simon and Bitsy take in her three children temporarily. Bitsy is asked to set up a nonprofit and shelter in Milltown and a surprise pregnancy make for an interesting story.
If you like Loving Bitsy and Marry Me Bitsy you’ll love Bitsy’s Babies.
I give this book four stars but I plan on rereading it in the near future.
